One of the projects which
Cides is involved is Electrik
Consort, a unique band of unusual instruments
and diverse music, that combines his Stick of 10
strings with the Zanfona
– a type of violin with a crankshaft, an instrument
of Century XIV recovered by the catalan musician
Adrià Grandia,
together with the ethnic percussions of Nan
Mercader.
Everything is possible in this group, from a version
of Led Zeppellin
played with Zanfona, Allemandas of Century XIV played
with modern sounds, Piazzolla’s tango in loop/dance
version and also original compositions of the musicians.
It is not easy to classify this group that crosses
the New Music, the sonorous Jazz, Rock and Loops.
Electrik Consort has participated in the Festival
of Jazz of Lleida, of the Fira de Manresa, and has
shared the stage with California
Guitar Trio, Trilok
Gurtu, Trey Gunn
— touring in different countries.
All this activity happened in the last two years
of the existence of this group. Actually, they are
recording their premiere album in Onkonkolo Studio
Recording of Barcelona.
There is an advance of Kashmir, Led Zeppellin. That
sample is an exclusive preview coming directly from
the studio recording, before this goes to the mastering
process.
